Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, recently attended a special screening held at the London Research Institute in aid of Cancer Research UK, in order to learn more about fighting the disease, sometimes described as ‘the enemy within’.
The event was based around the screening of a fascinating 60 minute film that covers the past 50 years of scientific research into cancer and highlights the amazing progress that has been made thus far by Cancer Research UK, as well as their many supporters. As well being able to watch the film, the evening also provided an opportunity for guests to learn more about the charity’s key achievements and life-saving work from members of the charity themselves.
Following the screening, guests were given the chance to put any questions that might have arisen from viewing the footage to a panel of world-leading scientists, all of whom had featured in the film.
Commenting on the screening, Mark Francois said:
“I was fortunate to be able to attend this screening and make the most of the opportunity to learn more about the very important work that Cancer Research UK undertakes. The film offered an important insight into their role in combating and controlling this disease and emphasised the key advances that have already been made. I know that cancer touches the lives of many of my constituents and their families so as an MP I think it is important to try and stay up to date on how medical science is advancing to combat it. Overall it was a very worthwhile experience.”
