Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois, recently attended the Rayleigh Horticultural Society (RHS) Spring Show at the Mill Hall, where he handed out prizes to winning exhibitors at the end of the day.
The RHS has existed for over 100 years and now has some 600 members on its books. It has traditionally organised three shows a year, where competing gardeners have an opportunity to show off their wares to fellow enthusiasts and members of the public.
Mark has often visited the show in the past and he was on hand to give out prizes to the winners, who ranged from young children to senior citizens. Speaking about his role in the day’s proceedings, Mark said:
“The RHS had a very successful spring show and people were queuing outside the doors to get in at 2:00pm when it opened. There were some marvellous exhibits on display and clearly we have some very skilful gardeners living in our area. It was a pleasure to be able to present the prizes to the winners and to see so much effort that had obviously gone into the RHS show.”
