MP Mark Francois explained his reasons for backing Brexit to his local Party members at the Rayleigh and Wickford Conservative Association’s Annual General Meeting, which took place recently in the WI Hall in Bellingham Lane, Rayleigh. The meeting, which was attended by around 50 members of the Association, heard Mark give three main reasons why he believes Britain should leave the European Union.
Firstly, because as the fifth largest economy in the world, Mark believes that Britain could prosper outside of the EU, freed up from the shackles of much of its red tape and bureaucracy. Secondly, because Mark believes that in order to bring immigration down to the “tens of thousands” (as promised in the Conservative Party’s manifesto) the only way is to take back control of our own borders and leave the EU. Thirdly, because Mark was concerned that our sovereignty had been eroded and that some 50% of our laws are now made in Brussels and over which Parliament effectively has no control.
Mark is one of twenty or so Government Ministers who have opted to back the “Vote Leave” Campaign despite the Prime Minister’s call for Britain to remain in the EU. Speaking about the Annual General Meeting, Mark said:
“We had a really good turn-out at the AGM and I think the forthcoming Referendum, in which my members take a very strong interest, was partly responsible for that. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the British people to take back control of their own destiny and I will certainly be campaigning for that outcome in the run up to the Referendum on June 23rd.”
