Rayleigh and Wickford’s MP Mark Francois recently visited FitzWimarc School to say goodbye to Jim Fuller its award winning headmaster and meet with their prize winning athletics team.
Jim Fuller, who has been the head master at FitzWimarc for 11 years is retiring after a long and successful teaching career. Recently his skill and ability to inspire his pupils was recognised when he was awarded the ‘Head Teacher of the year’ award for the East of England by the Teaching Awards Council. Mr Fuller is also now a contender in the National Award, which is to be decided this autumn.
During his visit to the popular FitzWimarc School Mark was impressed by the positive atmosphere in the school and the standard of teaching that are part of Mr Fuller’s legacy.
Speaking about his visit, Mark Francois said:
""I am glad to have been able to visit Fitzwimarc School and say goodbye to their popular head master Jim Fuller, as well as congratulate their prize winning athletics team. I visited on a day on which some pupils were dressing up for charity and so this was the first time that I had ever been photographed alongside a Clark Kent lookalike!
Jim Fuller was recently awarded the “Teacher of the Year” for our region and talking to the pupils and staff at the school it is easy to see why. I wish him well for his undoubtedly active retirement but also for the national award in the autumn as well.”
