Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor of Basildon, Councillor Derrick Fellowes, were on hand recently at the Wickford Fun Day at the Recreation Ground, off Nevendon Road, to wish the Posh Boys Brewery, based in Wickford, continuing success.
The new microbrewery, selling a variety of ales, brewed locally in Wickford, was opened by Mark, several months ago, in his capacity as the local MP. The Posh Boys Brewery and Tap Room is based in the centre of Wickford, just off the High Street, quite close to Aldi.
Since the opening a few months ago, the Posh Boys have enjoyed something of a roaring trade, as people from Wickford itself and further afield have come to sample their ales. The brewers have also participated in a number of fayres and community events, of which the one in Wickford, following the highly successful Wickford Carnival, was just the latest example.
Speaking about his support for the Posh Boys, Mark Francois MP said:
“As the MP who opened the Posh Boys Brewery and Tap Room, I was delighted to see them at the recent Family Fun day and to have a chance to share a pint with them and ask them how their business is developing. I was pleased to hear that they have had a good number of customers to their tap room, just off the high street and that they are continuing to brew a number of different ales to keep their customers satisfied. Some months ago, they brewed me a dedicated ale, called a “Special Place in Hell”, to commemorate Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council’s remarks regarding Eurosceptics, and I very much look forward to enjoying another pint with the Posh Boys, once we leave the European Union, hopefully at Halloween.”
