Rayleigh MP Mark Francois has written to contractors North London Gas Alliance protesting at delays in completing road-works in and around the town of Rayleigh. In particular, Mark criticised the company for their severe delays in finishing work in the area of Down Hall Road, leading down to the junction of London Road, near Rayleigh station.
Rayleigh’s MP also highlighted the lack of activity at the road-works for much of the weekend period and the delays which were caused by the three way contra flow system around the junction of Down Hall Road and London Road.
Mark has requested a meeting with the contractors to discuss their operations in Rayleigh and how these might be improved in the future, in order to try and reduce the amount of inconvenience caused to his constituents.
Commenting on the problems being caused in Rayleigh, Mark Francois said:
“Everyone accepts that this work has to be done and clearly it cannot all be completed overnight. Nevertheless, the contractors made a really bad job of Down Hall Road and even now the resurfacing is in such poor condition that it will probably have to be done again. I am not convinced that the company are making their best efforts to get this work done as quickly as practically possible and therefore I have asked to meet with them so that we can thrash this out face to face. Every constituent I have mentioned this to has been pleased to hear the news because the general view seems to be that the company are not doing very well. I hope that by meeting with them it might be possible to bring about some improvement.”
