Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, recently attended the Wickford Horticultural Society Spring Show to hand out prizes to members of the society in recognition of their hard work in producing exhibits over the last few months.
The Society’s Spring Show, which was held at Christ Church in Wickford, was attended by a number of society members and guests and saw prizes awarded, not just to members of the Society, but also to members of local Guide and Brownie packs, who had produced Easter ornaments as part of the displays.
Amongst other contestants, Mark handed out prizes to Mrs June Temple who had produced a very colourful display of flowers to help commemorate Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Commenting on the event, Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, said:
“I have attended the Rayleigh Horticultural Society’s Show a number of times in the past but since Wickford became part of my constituency at the 2010 General Election, this is the first time I have been along to see what their counterparts in Wickford are up to. The Wickford Horticultural Society also has very high standards and I was impressed by the quality of the exhibits on show and I was happy to be there to hand out the prizes. Clearly people in Wickford are keen growers and I look forward to remaining in touch with the Wickford Horticultural Society in the future.”
