Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois recently welcomed a group of students from Plumberow Primary Academy when they paid a visit to the Houses of Parliament. The students were taken on a tour of the Palace of Westminster before having the opportunity to take part in a debate on the voting age.
Mark then met the pupils at the recently opened Parliamentary Education Centre, a purpose designed building for introducing school parties to the structure and operation of Parliament. Mark spent time undertaking a question and answer session with the pupils, during which he responded on subjects ranging from Brexit, debating in the House of Commons and the environment, to his duties as a constituency MP.
Speaking about the visit by Plumberow Academy Mark said:
“It was a real pleasure to welcome these young people to Parliament and to see the new multi-million pound education centre being put to such good use. The group told me they had really enjoyed their tour and I was impressed by the quality of the questions which they came up with afterwards. I look forward to remaining in touch with the school in the future.”
