Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois has welcomed the 29th March 2018 as representing exactly one year to go before Britain exits the European Union.
Mark, who campaigned for Britain to leave the EU, is keen to mark this important date on the journey towards Britain becoming an independent country again. The Government have successfully moved Article 50, to commence the withdrawal process and the EU (Withdrawal) Bill, which will facilitate our leaving the EU, has been through the House of Commons and is now in the House of Lords. The Bill is likely to be on the statute book by this summer.
Mark also welcomed progress in the negotiations with our European Partners and it is hoped that the shape of the final deal, including a free trade agreement, will be available by the autumn of this year.
Speaking about the one year anniversary of when we leave the EU, Mark said:
“The British people voted in the referendum to leave the European Union and as an MP, I am proud to be playing my part in fulfilling their democratically expressed wish. A year from now Britain will leave the European Union and become once again a sovereign nation in its own right. I believe this is a great opportunity for our country and I look forward to March 2019 when this will become a reality.”
