The event, which was first held in 2006, saw an eclectic mix of bands and singers, ranging from Rock, to Indie and Jazz, perform throughout the day, with the first band taking to the stage at midday. All the bands and artists gave their time for free in order to raise as much money as possible for Havens Hospices, who are this year celebrating their 30th birthday.
Havens Hospices incorporates Fair Havens Adult Hospice and Little Havens Children's Hospice, who aim to provide respite breaks, symptom control and end-of-life care for adults and children living with life-limiting illnesses or conditions. They seek to make their journey - and that of their family - as comfortable as possible, creating special memories along the way. The funds raised at the Rock event will contribute to the continuing care for local adults, children and their families.
Commenting on the event Mark Francois said:
“I was pleased to be able to visit the “Rock For Havens Sake” music festival which aims to raise money for a very worthwhile Essex charity. I think it was great that the bands and artists gave their time for free in order to raise as much money as possible for a cause such as this and I would like to congratulate Havens Hospices for all the hard work they put in to organising this event.”
