Rayleigh’s MP Mark Francois, who has campaigned for several years to expand medical facilities in and around the town of Rayleigh, visited Audley Mills recently to perform the opening ceremony for a new extension to the popular town-centre surgery.
Following a visit to the original surgery several years ago, at which he noted the lack of space in the original building, Mark has lobbied local NHS bosses to work with the surgery partners, to provide expanded premises for the doctors and patients who use Audley Mills.
After detailed negotiations back in 2008, the partners and NHS South East Essex agreed to jointly fund an extension to the surgery. This has allowed the creation of a number of brand new consulting rooms, as well as a medical education centre, to allow junior doctors and other NHS staff to improve their skills. Commenting on the new expansion at Audley Mills, local MP Mark said:
“I am really pleased that the negotiations between the surgery partners and the local NHS succeeded and that patients who use Audley Mills will benefit as a result. The new facilities are very impressive and I hope my constituents will find them to their liking.”
