Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, welcomed new Italian restaurant, L’ Ancora (the Anchor) which has opened on Rayleigh High Street, to the town, when he dined there recently.
The new restaurant, which specialises in Italian fish dishes and Neapolitan cuisine, is run as a family business, by manager Leo Qosja, who originated, like most of his family, from Naples, in Southern Italy. Mark first visited the new restaurant, when it was still being fitted out, a couple of months ago.
He promised to come back and try their cuisine, one they were open, which he then did on a recent Saturday night. L’ Ancora now joins two other popular Italian restaurants in Rayleigh, La Romantica (at the top of Rayleigh High Street) and Gambero D’ Oro (the Golden Prawn) nearby Rayleigh Police Station.
Commenting on the recent opening of the new restaurant, Mark said:
“As someone whose mother was Italian, I know delicious Italian food when I find it. We already have two very good, dedicated, Italian restaurants in Rayleigh, La Romantica and Gambera Del Oro and now we have a third - and it’s called L’ Ancora! I wish all three establishments every success.”
