Rayleigh and Wickford MP lent his support to the work of the food bank, when he paid a recent visit to the Celestial Church of Christ, in Rayleigh. Mark was shown around the church by its leader, Pastor Solomon, who also explained how their premises help provide a food bank to support the local community.
The facility, on the church site in Eastwood Road, is run by volunteers from within the church’s congregation and provides a variety of free foodstuffs and domestic products to help families who may be struggling to make ends meet. The foodbank has been in operation for several months and has received much positive feedback.
Commenting on his visit, Mark said:
“I am very grateful to Pastor Solomon for showing me the work of his church and especially the operation of their food bank, which is providing a valuable service to the local community. The Pastor also kindly invited me along to one of their services over the summer recess, which I am looking forward to taking him up on. I wish the church every success.”
