Despite the difficulties posed by the COVID-19 Pandemic, Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois joined forces with the Rayleigh Branch of the Royal British Legion, to pay tribute to The Fallen in advance of Remembrance Day on 11 November.
Accompanied by the Chairman of the Rayleigh Royal British Legion, Steve Cowland, Mark, whose father was a D-Day veteran, laid a wreath at the Memorial Wall, at the Royal British Legion Hall on Crown Hill, Rayleigh. The two men, supported by Branch Secretary, Margaret Read, observed social distancing but were determined that their tributes would be paid, nevertheless.
Speaking about the wreath laying, Mark Francois MP said:
“Even in these challenging times, it is very important that we continue to commemorate and give thanks for those who made the ultimate sacrifice, to defend our democracy against aggression. COVID-19 or not, We Will Remember Them.”
