Rayleigh MP, Mark Francois has recently written to the Chief Executive of the Planning Inspectorate to list his objection to the proposed application to build over 300 residential dwellings in the land between Main Road and Rectory Road and Clements Hall Way in Hawkwell, which is currently in the process of appeal to the Planning Inspectorate.
The original application proposed by David Wilson Homes was rejected by Rochford District Council’s Development Control Committee as it represented overdevelopment of the Green Belt site in question and was in contrast to the Council’s adopted Development Plan.
In addition to this, Mark Francois also raised his concerns about the potential traffic implications which a development of this size would create and commented that a development of this kind would not be in keeping with the local area and semi rural feel of this part of Hawkwell.
Commenting on the appeal, Mark Francois said:
“I have received a number of letters and emails from my constituents who are opposed to this application and I too am concerned that this proposal represents overdevelopment in Hawkwell. There simply is not the infrastructure to cope with a development of this scale and I believe that it is a bit like trying to ‘cram a quart into a pint pot’. I hope that the inspector may yet decide to turn down the appeal.”
