Mark Francois MP recently met London 2012 Organising Committee Chair, Seb Coe, at the House of Commons to discuss how Rayleigh and Wickford can benefit from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Speaking after the event, Mark Francois said:
“The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are not just a once in a lifetime opportunity for London, but for the whole country. With less than 500 days to go until the Games, I would urge everyone to start thinking about how they can get involved in the Games - whether it is local schools signing up for the Get Set education programme to be eligible for tickets, businesses registering on CompeteFor to be eligible for Games related contracts or considering what tickets they would like to apply for.”
At the event which marked 500 days to go until the Olympics, Seb Coe commented:
“The countdown to the start of London 2012 has well and truly started. In just 500 days, the greatest show on earth is coming to our country. The world’s best athletes are getting ready to compete here in a fantastic mixture of iconic and brand new venues.
We have started selling tickets at www.tickets.london2012.com and with 645 sessions over 26 different sports to choose from across, there is something for everyone.
The ticket application process is a marathon, not a sprint. Our tickets are not first come, first served so you can apply at any point until 26th April 2011. If any sessions are oversubscribed we will run a ballot as the fairest way of allocating tickets.”
