Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois joined revellers at the Smugglers Den Club in Hullbridge recently, as they handed over a cheque for almost 3K to support the RNLI.
The club, which overlooks the River Crouch and which is run by the husband-and-wife team of Mark and Angela Hale, raised the funds with a series of collections and events, which culminated in an impressive £2,844 donation to the charity, which runs the lifeboat station at Southend, as well as numerous others around the British Isles.
Mark officially re-opened the club several years ago and was happy to help in presenting the cheque to members of the local branch of the RNLI. Thanking those at the Smugglers Den for all their efforts, Mark said:
“I would like to commend Mark and Angela Hale and all of their team at the Smugglers Den, for all their hard work in so ably supporting the RNLI. Hullbridge is a community with strong maritime links, including several yacht clubs, which may well explain the strong support for the RNLI.”
