Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois paid a recent visit to Fitzwimarc School, to congratulate them on their upgrade to “Good” in their latest inspection by OFSTED.
Around four years ago, Fitzwimarc experienced a difficult OFSTED inspection, in which the school was downgraded to “Requires Improvement”, due mainly to issues surrounding its special needs provision.
Since that time, the team at Fitzwimarc, led by Headteacher Robert Harris, have worked extremely hard to address these issues. As a result of these efforts, when the school was re-inspected this autumn, the school subsequently received an upgraded rating of “Good”. In addition, the school’s A Level results this summer were some of the best in its history.
Commenting on his visit and meeting with Mr Harris, Mark said:
“As the local MP, I would like to congratulate Mr Harris and all his team at Fitzwimarc on their latest OFSTED inspection and their well-deserved upgrade to a rating of “Good”. This is a significant achievement by the whole school community; staff, pupils, parents and governors alike and represents the culmination of a great deal of hard work by all concerned - over several years - which has now culminated in this very welcome outcome.”
