It was straight back to work for Wickford’s recently re-elected MP, Mark Francois, when he attended a celebration at Bromfords of the popular secondary school’s 50th anniversary.
The event, which was held in the school’s Sixth Form Centre, was hosted by headteacher, Mr Jochen Tree and included invitations to staff and pupils, past and present, to help commemorate the school’s half century of providing a strong education for Wickford young people.
As part of the event, the school’s drama group, the ‘Bromfords Theatre Company’ put on a show comprising several numbers from their recent production of the popular musical, Annie. Mark also gave a speech as the local MPs, including praising the school for their successful efforts in maintaining face-to-face learning during last year’s problems relating to reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete, or RAAC.
Speaking about the event, Mark said:
“I was glad to be able to join Mr Tree and his team at Bromfords to help celebrate their half century. I worked closely with the Head and his staff during the RAAC crisis, from which the school has emerged even stronger and will now eventually be completely rebuilt. I wish Bromfords all the best for the next fifty years ahead.”
