Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois welcomed the Holt Farm Junior School Council when they paid a visit to the Houses of Parliament.
The pupils were taken on a tour of the Palace of Westminster, during which time they were able to go into the chambers of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords before watching the House of Commons in action from the gallery.
Mark then met with the pupils at the Parliamentary Education Centre where he spent time undertaking a question and answer session with the children. During this session Mark answered questions on a range of subjects from his political day-to-day life, life in Rayleigh and why Mark wanted to be an MP. At the end of the tour, Mark presented each pupil with a certificate to commemorate their visit.
Speaking about the visit by Holt Farm Junior School’s School Council, Mark said:
“It was a real pleasure to welcome the School Council from Holt Farm Junior School to Parliament, to see and learn about this historic building. The group told me they had really enjoyed their tour and I was very impressed by the quality and range of their questions. I look forward to remaining in touch with the school in the future.”
