Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois, has congratulated Rayleigh Town Council on their great success in being named the best of 274 Town and Parish Councils across the county of Essex.
The honour was awarded by the Essex Association of Local Council’s (EALC) who judged the Town Council very highly, on the basis of their commitment to the community and their involvement in projects such as Anglia in Bloom and the Rayleigh Christmas Lights.
Mark took time to celebrate the success with Chairman of the Town Council, Councillor Eddie Dray and other members of the Council and staff, including their Clerk, Kerry Cumberland, at the conclusion of the recent Anglia in Bloom Awards, which were held at Rayleigh Baptist Church.
Commenting on the award, Mark Francois said:
"As the local MP, I am very proud of what our Town Council have achieved and to come top of nearly 300 Council’s in Essex, is a very worthwhile accolade. The Town Council do good work on behalf of the townsfolk in Rayleigh and it’s wonderful for the Councillors and their staff to see their efforts being acknowledged in this way – I also think it’s a definite feather in the town’s cap."
