Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, recently attended a special ball held at the Rayleigh Club, on the Hullbridge Road, to raise money for the ‘Friends of the Harbour Club’ who support the club’s work in providing day care for elderly residents with advanced dementia.
The cause is close to Mark’s heart, having recently had the honour of being made Patron of the ‘Friends of the Harbour Club’ which helped organised the event. The ball was very well attended, raising over £13,000 worth of much needed funds for the local charitable organisation.
The Harbour club have recently moved premises from Battlebridge Free Church to a specially converted old Victorian schoolhouse, at the top of Ferry Road, Hullbridge. This represents a much needed relocation, which provides a dedicated space for the charity to operate from. Mark will be opening their new premises at 10:00 on the morning of Saturday 25th May.
Commenting on the successful event, Mark Francois said:
“I am honoured to have been made Patron of such a worthy charity as the Friends of the Harbour Club, who help to raise funds to care for those in our community who unfortunately suffer with dementia. Who knows what the future holds for any of us and, one day, it could be one of us sitting in that room and so I am full of nothing but praise for this wonderful organisation, who do everything possible to provide stimulating and sympathetic care for our senior citizens. The ball was a great success and everyone had a fun evening raising money for this incredible charity.”
