Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, has been appointed as the Shadow Armed Forces Minister, as part of the formation of the new Conservative Opposition front bench.
Mark has previously served as the MoD Armed Forces Minister from 2013-15- and in his new role, he will now focus on advocating for increased Defence spending, supporting veterans' welfare initiatives, and working to ensure the Armed Forces have the resources they need to confront emerging global threats.
Commenting further on the announcement, Mark said:
“I am delighted to take up this role as Shadow Armed Forces Minister. Our Armed Forces deserve our unwavering support and a Government committed to their future. I am determined to hold Labour to account- especially over their lack of commitment to spending 2.5% of GDP on Defence by 2030- something which the previous Government had pledged to do.”
