Mark Francois MP has written to bosses at the North London Gas Alliance to encourage them to complete their roadworks in Rayleigh but also to make sure that they resurface the roads in the town properly before they go.
Mark has complained to the company on several occasions about the slow progress of their work over the past two years and he met with company representatives at Westminster to press them on the conduct of their operations in Rayleigh and how it was affecting the quality of life of his constituents.
The company are close to completing their work in the town, finishing a final section of work down towards the Rayleigh Weir and also some final work on Crown Hill, however the company has previously admitted that some of the resurfacing they carried out was sub-standard and will have to be done again. Speaking about this situation Mark Francois said:
""Most people reluctantly accepted that the gas mains in Rayleigh had to be replaced but over the past two years I have had a number of disputes with the company undertaking the work both about their slow progress and the quality of some of their work itself. Given all of this I do not want to delay the completion of this work one day longer than is necessary but the company do need to ensure that they resurface the roads properly, in areas where they did such a poor job such as Downhall Road, before they go. I have written to the company about this and I will continue to press them on this issue until the work is finally finished.""
