Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois, supported by two local councillors, has finally succeeded in getting the car park at Tesco Express, on London Road Rayleigh, expanded after a three year campaign.
When the Tesco Express store opened several years ago it only had five parking spaces, which led to considerable congestion at peak times and a real nuisance for local residences. Local MP Mark Francois began pressing Tesco’s senior management to expand the car park by replacing a grass mound at the front of the store with extra parking spaces. Mark was supported in this by local Conservative councillors Carol Pavelin and Margaret Spencer.
The enlarged car park is now open with ten parking bays, plus an additional bay dedicated for disabled customers.
Speaking about this success, Mark said:
“After three years of pressing Tesco’s management and a file on this subject over an inch thick, I am pleased to see that this expanded car park is now finally open. I would like to thank Councillors Carol Pavelin and Margaret Spencer for supporting me in this as the bigger car park will now be an advantage for both Tesco customers and local residents alike.”
