Former Minister and TV personality, Ann Widdecombe, was a real hit when she acted as the special guest speaker at the Rayleigh and Wickford Conservatives Women’s Organisation’s annual lunch at Saxon Hall, Rochford.
Over a hundred guests were present to listen to Ann, who spoke about the current political situation but also thrilled listeners with her insights into her appearance a few years ago on Strictly Come Dancing. Ann shared experiences on working with her dance partner Anton Du Beke and a number of very funny stories relating to her participation in the competition.
Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois was also present at the lunch and found Ann’s speech as fascinating as everybody else.
Commenting on the event, Mark said:
“Ann Widdecombe is a very popular figure with the public and having heard her speak about her time not just as a politician but as a TV personality it is easy to see why. She gave us all a real treat with some of her insights and it was an absolute pleasure to listen to her. I have had very good feedback from a number of guests about how much they enjoyed the occasion.”
